When a large number of plants are grown at the same place for food is called a crop.Cereals were the first crops known to be cultivated.Wheat and Rice are the most important cereals in the world.
Many Different kinds of crops are grown for food.
1- Food crops :-
Crops grown as food for humans and Animals.
2- Plantation crops:-
Crops grown in large estates, often of sale in different markets.
3- Cash crops
Crops grown mainly for profit and not for use by the farmer
Types of crops. 1- Kharif crops. 2- Rabi crops.

Preparation of soil
It involves loosening and turning it.
Ploughing
The process of loosening and turning the soil is called ploughing.
